Welcome!
Everyday conflict is often hard – and we can be left wondering what the best next step is to bring peace to a broken relationship.
This self-directed coaching tool can help you think this through.
It can help you deal with a current everyday conflict you are facing, supporting you as you decide what you might do to bring about peace and reconciliation.
While we trust this tool will be helpful, all advice is general in nature.
You will need to determine for yourself whether and how you act based on the conclusions you draw while using this tool.
PeaceWise cannot take responsibility for any choices you make.
Before you start: important note
There are some conflict situations that require additional, and often professional, help.
You should not attempt to navigate them by yourself.
These include:
- any situation in which you do not feel safe
- intimate partner violence or other family or domestic violence
- bullying or harassment
- conflict in which there is a significant power imbalance between you and the other person.
If you are in any of these situations, speak to a trusted friend or family member, a GP or counsellor, the police, a work manager, or your pastor or chaplain.
If you are in Australia, you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Everyday conflict
The focus of this self-directed coaching tool is to provide help in ‘everyday’ conflict situations – for example, conflicts that arise from frustrations, annoyances, disagreements and differing opinions.
When we refer to these as everyday conflicts, though, we are not minimising their impact or complexity.
In fact, it’s often these everyday conflicts that cause relationships to dissolve, workplaces to become toxic, families to break apart and communities to split.
